How I Can Support You

Compassionate, root-cause support for your gut and your relationship with food

It can be tiring to feel like your body is a puzzle you can’t solve. Perhaps you’ve been told your tests are "normal," yet you’re still navigating daily discomfort and you do not feel 'right'.

I help you to navigate the vast health and nutrition noise to work out what is right for you and your body.

I help you bridge the gap between clinical nutrition and emotional wellbeing, focusing on two core areas that are often deeply connected.

Digestive Health & Gut Support

If your digestive system feels unpredictable, we look beyond the symptoms to find the "why." I support clients navigating:

  • IBS-type symptoms such as persistent bloating, flatulence, and/or irregular bowel movements.

  • Reflux and upper GI issues including heartburn, LPR, or "silent reflux."

  • Food sensitivity cycles where your list of "safe" foods feels like it is constantly getting smaller.

  • Post-viral or chronic flares that haven't settled after illness or high stress.

  • Functional imbalances identified through private testing (e.g., SIBO or microbiome disruptions).

Disordered Eating & Food Relationship

Healing your gut often requires healing your relationship with food itself. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to move away from:

  • Chronic dieting and restriction and the pressure to eat "perfectly."

  • Food fear and guilt that follows eating or socialising.

  • Body disconnection and struggling to trust your natural hunger or fullness cues.

  • Orthorexic tendencies where the pursuit of "healthy" or "clean" eating becomes obsessive or limiting.

  • The mental load of food—the constant "chatter" and worry about what to eat next.

Beyond the Gut

I specialise in gut health and disordered eating recovery, but my clinical toolkit is broad. I frequently work with clients to address:

  • Thyroid & Hormonal Imbalances

  • Persistent Skin Conditions

  • Autoimmune Support

Integrity in Practice: If I believe a different practitioner is better suited to support your specific health goals, I will discuss this during your discovery call and facilitate a referral.

Ways We Can Work Together

Personalised nutrition and naturopathic support tailored to your life

Whether we meet in person in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire or connect online, my goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel heard and empowered.

Gut health support nutritionist in Scotland

Instead of just managing symptoms or flares, we look for the root cause of your digestive discomfort. Using a combination of nutritional science and, where helpful, functional testing (like stool or breath tests), we build a practical plan to calm your gut. This is about moving away from restriction and back toward a varied, enjoyable diet that supports your energy and mood.

FAQs about working with nutritional therapist Laura Leslie

1 / How long does it take to see improvements in gut health with a Nutritional Therapist?

While some clients notice a reduction in bloating or energy shifts within the first 15–30 days, deep healing of the gut microbiome or shifting long-term food anxiety typically takes 3 to 6 months. We focus on sustainable, root-cause changes rather than temporary "quick fixes."

2 / Can I get nutritional support if my GP blood tests came back normal?

Yes. Many of my clients have "normal" clinical results but still suffer from functional symptoms. My approach uses functional nutrition to look for imbalances that standard tests might miss and optimal ranges, focusing on how you actually feel.

3 / Is nutritional therapy safe for someone with a history of disordered eating?

Yes, provided the practitioner is specifically trained in this area. My practice is informed by counseling skills and eating disorder awareness. We avoid "triggering" language, rigid calorie counting, and restrictive protocols, focusing instead on food neutrality and body trust.

4 / Do you offer functional testing for SIBO or Histamine Intolerance in the UK?

Yes. I can facilitate private functional testing for SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), histamine markers, and comprehensive stool analysis. These tests help us move past guesswork to create targeted support for your specific gut environment.

4 / Do you offer other testing?

Yes. I can facilitate private blood testing, DUTCH hormonal testing, mycotoxin tests and many more.
