Disordered Eating Support in Aberdeenshire & Online

Healing Your Relationship with Food, Your Body & Your Digestion

If you feel trapped in a cycle of restrictive rules, constant food thoughts, or a "love-hate" relationship with your body, I want you to know: it doesn’t have to be this way. Many of my clients feel they aren’t "unwell enough" for clinical help or they have finished being supported in a clinical environment, yet they spend every day feeling exhausted by food guilt, body shame, or the physical toll of disordered eating.

As a Registered Nutritional Therapist and Naturopath, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space in Aberdeenshire and online to help you move away from diet culture and food pressure. We don’t just look at what you eat; we support your body as a whole and we look at how you feel. Together, we’ll work toward food freedom and digestive peace, using a gentle, evidence-based approach that prioritises your mental well-being alongside your physical health.

Signs Your Relationship with Food Needs Support

You might recognise yourself here if you are struggling with:

  • Constant "food noise" or intrusive thoughts about eating and calories

  • Feeling "out of control" or guilt after eating

  • Rigid food rules or avoiding entire food groups. Your list of 'safe foods' is getting smaller

  • Compensatory behaviours (like over-exercising or restricting to "make up" for food)

  • Anxiety around social eating or dining out

  • A cycle of "starting again on Monday" or chronic dieting

  • Loss of hunger and fullness cues

  • Loss of trust with your body

  • Digestive upset, fatigue, or feeling "disconnected" from your body

Many of my clients come to me feeling "stuck" in a cycle of dieting, or perhaps you’ve been told your physical symptoms are "just stress." We look past the labels to understand the why behind your eating patterns. My approach integrates nutritional science with a compassionate, weight-neutral lens to help you find a way of eating that feels calm, flexible, and nourishing; not perfect.

My Approach to Your Relationship with Food

My approach is compassionate, weight-neutral, and evidence-based. I don’t believe in "good" or "bad" foods, and I will never give you a restrictive meal plan that adds to your anxiety.

Together, we explore:

  • The "why" behind your eating patterns and food rules

  • Re-establishing hunger and fullness cues

  • The connection between your gut health and your emotional well-being

  • Practical ways to reduce "food noise" and decision fatigue

  • Identifying nutrient gaps without triggering restriction

  • Gentle, sustainable lifestyle shifts that support your nervous system

The aim is to help you move away from the "diet cycle" and toward a place of food and body peace. We focus on what adds value to your life and health, creating a flexible way of eating that feels safe, intuitive, and—most importantly—permanent.

Our Work Together (Step by Step)

Getting support for your relationship with food doesn’t have to feel daunting.

Here’s what working together usually looks like:

Pink Marble Texture

1

Free discovery call

We start with a relaxed, no-pressure call to talk through what’s been going on for you with food, what you’ve already tried, and what you would be a suitable support for this next step in your journey. This is simply to see if we’re a good fit and whether working together feels right for both of us.

2

Initial consultation

We start with an in-depth one hour initial session. This is where we take the time to properly understand your symptoms, health history, history with food, lifestyle, and any previous test results. We may also discuss functional testing to support you further in your journey.

We begin to form a plan and discuss first steps of working together.

3

Follow-up sessions

This is where the real change happens. We work together over follow-up sessions to support your health and disordered eating patterns and crush any challenges you may have. We layer on tweaks to your diet and lifestyle as we work together. You may already know that changing relationship with food and health symptoms is a journey.

Who This Is For

Meet Laura

Your Disordered Eating Nutritionist in Aberdeenshire & Online

LauraLesliephotosDec2024-64.jpg

Hi, I’m Laura — a Registered Nutritional Therapist, Naturopath and Health Coach (mBANT, CNHC). I support individuals across Aberdeenshire and online who are struggling with disordered eating, chronic dieting, and the "food noise" that often stems from a complicated relationship with their body and digestion.

I know how exhausting it is to feel trapped by food rules or to feel "not unwell enough" for support, even though food takes up all your mental energy. Many of my clients come to me after years of trying every diet under the sun, only to feel more disconnected from their bodies than ever. My role is to provide a safe, weight-neutral space where we can unpick those patterns and help you find food freedom.

My own health journey led me into this work. Having experienced how easily high-pressure lifestyles and "wellness" trends can lead to burnout and a fractured relationship with health, I saw the need for a different approach. Working with a naturopath helped me understand that true health isn't about restriction or "perfection"—it’s about listening to your body and finding balance that actually feels good.

My approach is personal, non-judgmental, and science-based. There is no "perfect" way to eat here. We work together at your pace, focusing on healing your relationship with food and your nervous system, so you can feel more at peace in your body, more present in your life, and finally free from the cycle of food guilt.

What Clients Say About Working With Me

If you’re feeling hesitant about reaching out, please know that’s completely normal. Many of the people I work with felt hesitant at first—especially if they felt "not unwell enough" for support, or if they’ve spent years trapped in a cycle of dieting and food guilt.

Here are a few words from clients who have worked with me to heal their relationship with food, move away from restriction, and find peace in their bodies:

Ready to book your free discovery call?

Taking the first step toward food freedom can feel like a big move, but this is a relaxed, no-obligation conversation where we’ll talk through:

  • Your current relationship with food and your body

  • The "food rules" or cycles you’re feeling stuck in

  • What you’ve already tried (and why it might not have felt supportive)

  • The kind of "food peace" or headspace you’d like to move toward

  • Whether my weight-neutral, compassionate approach feels like the right fit for you

There’s no pressure to commit; it’s simply a chance for us to connect in a safe, non-judgmental way and see how I can best support your journey.

FAQs on Disordered Eating Support with Laura Leslie

1 / Do I need a formal diagnosis (like Anorexia or Bulimia) to work with you?

No. Many of the people I support don't have a clinical diagnosis. I work with "disordered eating"—which includes chronic dieting, "food noise," orthorexia, binge eating, or simply feeling like food and body image take up too much of your mental energy. If your relationship with food feels stressful, you deserve support.

2 / How is this different from a standard weight-loss consultation?

My approach is weight-neutral and non-diet. Unlike traditional nutritionists who might focus on calorie counting, structured meal plans or weight targets, we focus on healing your behaviours, regulating your nervous system, and restoring your body’s natural hunger cues. We look at your health through the lens of well-being, not a number on a scale.

3 / Can you help me if I also have gut issues like bloating?

Absolutely. There is a strong "brain-gut" connection, and disordered eating patterns can often cause or worsen digestive discomfort. We work to soothe your digestion while ensuring we don't use "gut health" as a new way to restrict or create "fear foods."

4 / Will you put me on a meal plan?

I don’t provide rigid, calorie-controlled meal plans, as these can often reinforce the "diet mentality." Instead, we work on gentle nutrition—collaboratively building a flexible way of eating that feels safe, satisfying, and nourishing for your specific lifestyle.
